Jose Mourinho excepts Dele Alli to remain at Tottenham past Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Alli, whose not started a single Premier League game since the opening day defeat to Everton, has been strongly linked with a move to PSG this month which would see he reunite with Mauricio Pochettino, who bought him to Spurs from MK Dons back in 2015.

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that the French champions are “pushing hard” to sign the England midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season, but Tottenham aren’t willing to let Alli leave the club until they’ve signed a replacement.

However, when pressed on the matter during his press conference ahead of the game with Liverpool tomorrow, Mourinho said he expects Alli to stay.

“I expect [him to still be here],” Mourinho told the Evening Standard. “I’m saying that since the beginning of the transfer window. I was not expecting anyone to leave, I was not expecting anyone to come.

“Until now, January 27, we’re almost in the end. I don’t believe anything is going to happen but it’s open still.”

Meanwhile, the Portuguese confirmed that Alli’s tendon problem that saw him miss both the games against Sheffield United and Wycombe, is going to keep him out of the huge clash against Liverpool on Thursday evening.
