Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game as Tottenham slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Brighton on Sunday evening.

In truth, but perhaps could and should have been more for Graham Potter’s team, who completed outplayed Spurs in what was a shocking display from Jose Mourinho’s side.

Tottenham remain sixth in the Premier League, but are six points behind the top-four, and 11 behind leaders Manchester City.

Mourinho rung the changes following Thursday’s defeat to Liverpool – handing starts to the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Moussa Sissoko and a rare Premier League appearance for Gareth Bale, who failed to impress.

However, there was no place in the matchday squad for right-back Serge Aurier, who was reported to have stormed out and left the stadium at half-time against Liverpool.

But when speaking to the press after the game, the Spurs boss described the decision as technical, and was pleased with the performance of Sissoko, who replaced Aurier on the right.

“It’s a technical decision, and I’m happy with the decision because Moussa played very well,” he told Football.London.

  1. Mou is frozen in time. Why 3 centrebacks against Brighton?? The 4-2-3-1 could have worked. Toby and Rodon centrebacks, Hojbjerg and Winks as double pivot. LB Davies RB Aurier, N’Dombelé as a creator, wings Son and Bergwijn, and Lucas replacing Kane!!

  2. Time to give up on football and especially Spurs, and this is from someone who has followed it and the club for 60+ years.
How one can tolerate the wages paid to people like Mourinho and Bale who just do not do their jobs, sit back and get paid for doing nothing, doing it incompetently and Big pay outs when sacked is beyond comprehension and actually repulsive.
Disgusting and an insult to a country’s citizens.
