Hugo Lloris has put Dele Alli’s upturn in form down to professionalism after the Tottenham attacker played a crucial role against Fulham on Thursday.

Alli’s deflected effort in the first half was enough to secure all three points for Spurs at Craven Cottage.

The 24-year-old started as part of a front four that also consisted of Gareth Bale, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane – an exciting prospect going into the final months of the season.

Alli was rewarded with a start after his improved performances of late, including a couple of instrumental displays in the Europa League.

He is now back in contention in the Premier League, too – Thursday was his first league start since the opening day of the current campaign against Everton.

And Lloris has credited Alli for putting the disappointment of a reported failed January move to PSG to one side.

“As a team-mate, he’s always been professional,” Lloris said after the win at Fulham (via the London Evening Standard).

“He put his disappointment on the side and from day one in the second part of the season, after the transfer market closed, he switched on and he started to step by step improve his fitness and get as much confidence as he can.

“Now he’s coming back and that’s good for the team and obviously the best for his season is ahead of us.”

Tottenham are certainly in a far better place than they were a few weeks ago, with Alli and Bale now able to contribute during what is sure to be a hectic run-in.
