Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez has revealed that he never considered leaving in January despite growing concerns over his future.

Sanchez has struggled for consistency this term, and until recently, had been overlooked by Jose Mourinho in the Premier League – with Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier his preferred pair.

Following Spurs’ late collapse against West Ham in October, in which he scored an own goal to make it 3-2, the defender then didn’t make a single appearance in the league for more than two months until he was recalled at Wolves after Christmas.

Sanchez was in and out the side during January – with reports suggesting that he wanted to leave Tottenham having fallen down the pecking order.

But having played every minute of the previous six Premier League matches, Sanchez has become first-choice once again.

Asked whether he even thought about moving on, the Colombian said: “Never! I never considered leaving the club. Football can give you the chance to bounce back in situations and that’s what happened. I never said I had to play because I was before. Just be humble in that moment.” (Quotes via Football.London).
