Tottenham’s winning run came to an abrupt end following a 2-1 defeat in the north London derby.

Here’s how we rated the players on the day:

Hugo Lloris, 6 – Helpless with both goals. Could do nothing about the deflection and then dived the wrong way for the penalty.

Matt Doherty, 3 – Completely hung out to dry by Jose Mourinho. Should not have started the game and got completed ripped to pieces by Kieran Tierney, including for the equaliser.

Toby Alderweireld, 7 – Did little wrong. Tottenham’s best player.

Davinson Sanchez, 5 – Solid opening period, which included some fine blocks, but made a ridiculous attempt to tackle Alexandre Lacazette which handed Arsenal a penalty. Almost made amends late on, but his sliding goal-bound effort was blocked on the line by Gabriel.

Sergio Regulion, 5 – Neat cushioned pass to Lucas for the goal, but offered little else in an attacking sense.

Tanguy Ndombele, 4 – Added nothing and was deservedly hooked.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, 3 – Absolutely wretched performance from the Dane, who made a half-hearted attempt to tackle Martin Odegaard for the equaliser and was incredibly poor on the ball.

Lucas Moura, 6 – Ran around plenty, but with little end product, although he assisted the goal.

Gareth Bale, 4 – Played an excellent pass in the build-up to Lamela’s goal, but didn’t work hard enough and was replaced by Sissoko.

Heung Min Son, N/A – Replaced by Lamela early on following a hamstring problem.

Harry Kane, 5 – Possibly his quietest afternoon of the season. Offered very little, although he almost stole a point late on when his spectacular free-kick cannoned back off the post which came after his back-post header was ruled out for offside.

Substitutes:

Erik Lamela, 6 – Opened the scoring with an outrageous rabona, but shot himself in the foot with a ridiculous elbow on Tierney which saw him sent off.

Moussa Sissoko, 5 – Sloppy, although he added some physicality to Tottenham’s midfield.

Dele Alli, 6 – Looked bright and was inches away from heading home Kane’s cross.

  1. That has to be the worst game I’ve seen Spurs play for years. The fact that it was a North London Derby makes it even worse, there was no fight, passion, effort or movement, the only Spurs player that came out of that with any credibility was Lucas Moura.
I honestly never want to see Doherty wear a Spurs shirt again, he must be the worst right back we’ve ever had, he was done every time they attacked down their left and he never learnt, he didn’t have a clue what was going on.
Bale was none existent and never tracked back off the ball, you would have thought he would show some fight being the game it was. He was a complete waste of time.
God knows what Sanchez was thinking putting in a challenge like that in the box, he was nowhere near the ball and he was lucky not to go himself.
As for Lamela, apart from the odd bit of brilliance he shows now and again like his goal, he runs round like a headless chicken throwing his arms around, having been booked already, he was a complete idiot doing what he done.
We seriously need an overhaul in the summer, getting rid of Doherty, Sissoko, Lamela, Aurier, Dier, Lloris. We need all these out and probably one or two more, although we probably won’t make much money out of that lot to replace them, uncle Joe needs to put his hand in his pocket for once and supply Mourinho with some cash to buy some quality for a change.
20 years of ENIC, Lewis and Levy and nothing but a league cup to show for it is a terrible record, something like 11 managers or so levy has been through, it’s really time we got rid of ENIC, I for one don’t want another 20 years of no real investment in the team. If they don’t show some intent in the summer we’ll lose the likes of Kane and Son, and if that happens, we really will be in trouble.

    • You must have been watching a different angle on the penalty because hands down it was not a penalty watch it again. Everyone in the studio thought the same. We showed little fight in the first half but some in the second. Unlucky to loose with kane hitting the post and the off side goal but Oliver is a terrible referee one of the worst would have been better with stevie wonder.

  2. Lamela would not have needed a ‘rabona’ if he could use his right foot. Over and over he plays back because he has one foot. Bale has shown this.
