Danny Rose has turned down the chance to have his Tottenham contract cancelled in recent months, according to Football Insider.
The defender has not featured for Spurs this season after losing his place in the team last term, amid disagreements with Jose Mourinho that featured in Amazon’s All or Nothing documentary.
Out of contract at the end of the season, Rose will be able to join another club on a free transfer this summer – but Tottenham have attempted to shift him prematurely.
Football Insider claims Spurs have offered the left-back a mutual termination of his contract in recent months.
However, Rose has turned down those proposals, with negotiations collapsing over the amount of money he would be due.
It’s obviously a difficult situation for player and club. Tottenham want him off the books, but Rose wants to see out his contract and receive the money he believes he is owed.
In any case, Rose will not be a Spurs player come the start of next season. It’s a sad way for the club’s longest-serving player to end his stay.
