Tottenham are the frontrunners to sign Marcel Sabitzer this summer with the midfielder aiming to leave RB Leipzig, according to reports in Germany.
Sabitzer was linked with a move to Spurs in the January transfer window (via Christian Falk) and it appears he could indeed be on the move in the coming months.
German outlet Bild claims Sabitzer will not extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2022, and so Leipzig are likely to sell the Austrian before the start of next season.
And the report goes on to say that Tottenham are ‘75%’ likely to be his next club – the Londoners are expected to beat Manchester United and Liverpool to his signature.
Of course, 75% suggests there is a bit of doubt, probably because United and Liverpool may be able to lure Sabitzer with Champions League football.
That said, there is still a possibility Spurs will beat Liverpool to the final Champions League spot in the table.
In any case, it seems Tottenham are very much interested in getting a deal done for Sabitzer – it may just a matter of Daniel Levy stumping up the apparent £36m Leipzig will ask for.
