Tottenham still want to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar after nearly securing a deal in January, according to Football Insider.

Skriniar has been a regular for Inter this season, playing a key role at centre-back for the side that looks to be on its way to ending Juventus’ Serie A dominance in the coming weeks.

But the campaign didn’t start all that brightly for Skriniar, who was out of the team and seemingly on his way out of the club.

Spurs were heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old in January, and Football Insider claims a deal was closer than reported at the time.

The Londoners were apparently close to signing Skriniar for just £25 million, but Inter decided to keep him after he recovered his best form.

However, it seems Tottenham’s pursuit is not over yet.

Football Insider believes Spurs will go back in for the Slovakian this summer as they look to strengthen their defensive options.

Jose Mourinho is clearly in need of a new centre-back, with the defence partly responsible for letting yet another lead slip at Newcastle United on Sunday.

Skriniar would be ideal, but there will be questions as to whether he will leave a Champions League team for Tottenham, who may not finish in the top four.
