Tottenham are amongst a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing Lyon centre-back Joachim Andersen, according to the Telegraph.

The Danish defender has been in excellent form during his loan spell at Fulham this season, but Scott Parker’s men don’t have an option to buy him permanently, meaning he’ll be available this summer.

The report believes that Spurs will face competition from Manchester United and Leicester, but could land Andersen for as little as just £25m – with the French outfit desperate to coup back some of the £30m they lost last season due to the impact of Covid-19.

Tottenham have the fourth best defensive record in the Premier League this term, but are expected to bolster a defensive department that has made a host of errors this season – with Mourinho yet to find a settled centre-back pairing.

Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez have all been given a significant amount of game-time, whilst Joe Rodon has started the previous two matches.

But with Spurs looking likely to finish outside the top four, adding a centre-back is a priority, and therefore Andersen would be an excellent start for Mourinho.
