Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks is on Southampton’s radar for a possible transfer this summer, according to Football Insider.
Winks has struggled for game time in recent months and is unlikely to play much of a role at all for the remainder of the season after Spurs’ Europa League exit.
Football Insider claims Southampton are ‘keeping tabs’ on the 25-year-old, who has also been out of the England reckoning after losing his place in the Tottenham team.
In order to fight his way back into Gareth Southgate’s plans, Winks surely needs to move on and play more regularly elsewhere.
The story goes on to say that Winks is aware Spurs are looking to bring in a new central midfielder this summer, which will only decrease his chances of playing more often.
It’s a shame Winks hasn’t developed into the player many thought he would, but perhaps a move is all he needs to rediscover his best form.
Indeed, he could end up being a very useful player for a club just below Tottenham’s level, like Southampton.
