It seems the futures of Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte are intrinsically linked this summer.
According to Sky in Italy, both managers are being considered for the vacant managerial post at Tottenham. Indeed, multiple outlets – including The Athletic – are reporting that Pochettino could make a sensational return to Spurs.
However, Sky Italia’s report says Spurs are also keen on Conte, who left Inter Milan earlier this week despite leading the Italians to the Serie A title.
Amazingly, the story suggests Pochettino could help Conte seal the Tottenham job. That’s because Real Madrid – who lost Zinedine Zidane this week – are interested in both managers, and so if they appoint Pochettino, Conte will have little competition for the Spurs vacancy.
But it also works the other way round. Madrid could go for Conte. Alternatively, Pochettino’s potential PSG exit could see the French giants go for Conte.
In any case, it seems this summer will play host to one of the most dramatic managerial merry-go-rounds in recent memory. Let’s just hope Tottenham make the right choice.
