Tottenham have joined the race to sign Brighton’s highly-rated defender Ben White, according to the Mirror.

A centre-back has been identified as one of Spurs’ priorities this summer following a poor campaign at the back – conceding 45 goals in the Premier League after several individual mistakes.

Lyon’s Joachim Andersen, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Fulham last season, has been strongly linked to Tottenham, although John Cross from the Mirror believes they’re looking at bringing 23-year-old White to north London, but will face competition from Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

White made great strides at Brighton last term, featuring in all but two of their Premier League games, and was recently rewarded by being named as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement in England’s Euro’s squad having initially made the 33-man party.

The report suggests that White will cost around £50m, which is half of what Andersen is set to be available for, a price that Tottenham are unlikely to match.

  1. I watched a bit of andersen last season for Fulham. He has the look of Toby but I see a lot of dier in him. To be honest his partner at the back had far better stats last year looks like spurs are yet again going to continue the we will sign the wrong guy again.
