Paris Saint-Germain are close to re-signing Tottenham defender Serge Aurier, according to Football Insider.

Aurier emerged as Jose Mourinho’s first-choice right-back last season ahead of Matt Doherty, but he lost his place towards the end of the campaign under Ryan Mason.

And now it seems another former Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, wants a reunion with Aurier.

Football Insider claims PSG have agreed personal terms with Aurier, who left the French giants for Tottenham in 2017.

The report goes on to say that PSG are willing to meet Spurs’ demands in terms of a transfer fee, so a deal is believed to be close to completion.

Aurier will apparently sign a four-year contract with the club he made 81 appearances for before joining Tottenham.

Despite a few vintage errors of judgement, Aurier probably enjoyed his best season in a Spurs shirt last term.

That said, it is arguably the best thing for him and Tottenham to part ways, and the Londoners must now pursue a new right-back.

Doherty could play a bigger role next season but he needs competition.

  1. Doherty is not much of a upgrade on aurier however considering we will not be anywhere near top six he is probably good enough with tanganga as cover.

  2. Doherty is not much of an upgrade on Aurier? Doherty is a massive downgrade on Aurier.
All of you Aurier haters completely ignore that even with his moments of madness, he’s still somewhere around the best 5 right backs in the league. People seem to have thought Walker is the baseline for fullbacks rather than the exception. Trippier or Doherty is much more of a baseline and Aurier is better than both.

  3. We have just sold a right back that controlled Rashford in the Europa Final and had a very good season at Villarreal with 1 year on his contract. You have to say Levy is only interested in players for the sake of profit rather than talent, strange that none of our managers were not able to do what Emmery was able with Fourth.

  4. Foyth just got dropped by Argentina for the Copa America due a few clangers in recent friendlies. He wasn’t the answer for is any more than Doherty is
