Nuno Espirito Santo is the frontrunner for the Tottenham job but Spurs still have fingers in other pies, according to the Telegraph.
Yesterday we relayed a Daily Mail story that said Nuno, who left Wolves last month, has emerged as a leading candidate for the manager vacancy at Tottenham.
And the Telegraph seems to agree, claiming talks have taken place between the club and the Portuguese coach.
However, the report goes on to say that Spurs ‘admire’ three other managers, suggesting the Londoners have not completely settled on Nuno yet.
Apparently, Tottenham are fond of former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, who is currently in charge of the entertaining Italian national team.
Spurs are also said to like SPL-winning Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and Brighton’s highly-rated young coach Graham Potter.
The question is: how much do Tottenham ‘admire’ those alternatives? Is it enough to end their pursuit of Nuno?
Pre-season is edging closer and closer, and Spurs arguably can’t afford to spend much more time searching for a manager when crucial transfer business needs to be conducted.
Not Nuno. No more Mourinho. I don’t say he’s the poison that Mourinho is but he doesn’t play our kind of football.
If Mancini is an option bring it on…provin a gun mngr for Italy national team currently and has EPL experience. Would prefer him to Nuno. If not, go Potter.
No more counter attack. If paratici cant adapt to spurs then shift him on. Sick of every candidate being counter attacking. At what point does this guy realise that football is an entertainment sport and counter attack doesnt entertain the spurs fans who ultimately pay his wages.
Bring ten hag urgently. If we cant get ten hag, bring Jardim. Boom, done…
Why do we keep changing prospective managers who have so differing styles of football
If just avoiding relegation is the brief , go for Nuno or Potter
If trying to achieve top 4 is an aspiration, then go all out for Mancini
If developing young players and trying for top 4 , then go for Ten Hag
Just make your minds up and settle for a plan
That way we can all know what we are doing and can either like it, lump it or just switch off
Nuno will just fill squad with Portuguese as he did at wolves,I would go potter and give youngsters a chance we seem to be losing our identity.coys
Mancini would be #1, but I don’t think there is a hope in hell that he’d leave Italy before a World Cup to join us!
Therefore a punt on Gerrard, or Gallardo (he defo plays the Spurs way) would be best.
Nuno, Martinez, Potter, et al are all lacking (in either tactics, pedigree, or both). Any other top manager clearly doesn’t want to work with ENIC/Levy!
This summer has been a disgrace. Not hiring ten hag, then hiring a counter attacking technical director. Then a series of farcical talks with absolutely ridiculous candidates (mostly counter attacking), and voila, we are about to appoint a mid table manager of a system none of us want to watch and which will no doubt see our most average players become guaranteed starters over our genuine talents.
If Nuno comes in, just sell Dele to Poch (certain to be benched if nunos back 3 is in effect) and Kane to Pep (would only be holding him a prisoner to mediocrity) and accept its going to be a new mid table era, struggling to break down little teams with the occasional big result being nicked against one of the big boys who play the way we used to before hitchen, jose and paratici implimented a club strategy of obsolete football and pace over intelligence to make us the new Palace.
Nuno’s “success” to date was that he was able to get top young mendes players that were too good for wolves, but when those players left he became very average. I just dont look at our squad and see nuno as a solution to our problems. I see another season of trying to persist with bergwijn and lucas in the Traore (pacy idiot to run behind defences) role, that jose already played to death at the expense of results.
Try again with Conti
The brand of football played by Brighton under coach Potter would be loved by all spurs fans.
If Brighton had more dynamic consistent strikers like spurs have in Son and Kane they would be a top 6 team.
My vote for the New Manager is Potter, Rather than taking risks with negative counter attacking Italian or Portuguese Managers
Levy is playing mind game s he took on the chosen one let pay the million s out off his own pocket perhaps he will think twice.Nuno is not for Spurs / Conti same fog him .
