Tottenham have offered Tanguy Ndombele to Lyon in a deal that would see Houssem Aouar move in the other direction, according to ESPN.

The report suggests Lyon might accept an offer of just €25 million for Aouar, but Spurs could use Ndombele instead of cash.

Ndombele joined Tottenham from Lyon two years ago but has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under three different managers.

That said, he has enjoyed spells in the team and has shown what a huge talent he is on several occasions.

However, it seems Spurs are willing to let the 24-year-old return to his former club if they are able to replace him with Aouar.

Aouar has been one of the standout players in the French top-flight in recent seasons and can play slightly further forward than Ndombele, as well as in a deeper midfield two.

ESPN claims Arsenal are also monitoring Aouar but they must sell players before they make a move, which could give Tottenham time to pounce.

Ideally, both Ndombele and Aouar will be Spurs players next season – but this particular story suggests it may well be one or the other.

  1. This will be a big mistake. This guy is different. We’ve let Foyth go who looked very decent for Villarreal especially in the Europa final. Instead we keep Dier. Talent released, dross kept. Same old story
