Tottenham are interested in signing Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on loan, according to reports in Italy.

Hugo Lloris has just one year left on his contract, and Joe Hart is now the only deputy after Paulo Gazzaniga’s departure.

All of which means Spurs could be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper, somebody to provide backup for Lloris this season and perhaps replace him next year.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims Gollini could be that man.

The report says Tottenham’s new director football, Fabio Paratici, has already made contact with Atalanta over a potential deal.

It is believed Paratici wants to sign Gollini on a two-year loan deal, but Atalanta are unconvinced – they would rather sell or strike a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Either way, it seems Paratici is keen to provide more competition for Lloris, whose long-term future remains a mystery.

Hart’s performances last season were far from convincing, so Spurs could really do with a better second-choice goalkeeper.

And if Gollini – or an alternative – impresses when given the chance, perhaps he will become Lloris’ long-term successor.

  1. All this talk of this one coming and nothing happening.Everyone saying this is going to be a busy summer at Spurs: what rubbish.
Actually feel sorry for Paratici As is handcuffed and will not be able to do the job he was brought in to do, as no half decent player will want to join the club and play under the poisonous dwarf.

    • Yes lets base our opinion on unsubstantiated transfer rumours, published by two bit websites, who simply regurgitate whatever lie is doing the rounds in order to justify the saturation of “media outlets” in football. Outlets who have to print something, anything, to keep their advertisers happy. What a balanced and intelligent approach that is.
