Tottenham transfer target Takehiro Tomiyasu has picked up an injury which could affect his immediate future, according to reports in Italy.
The Bologna defender is said to be wanted by Spurs – it has been suggested by The Athletic that he is very close to a move to north London.
However, Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claims Tomiyasu has hurt his ankle while out at the Olympics with host nation Japan.
Tomiyasu missed Japan’s opening game and could be absent for further matches while he nurses his injury.
The report says the situation should not prevent a deal between Bologna and Tottenham from being completed, but negotiations could slow down.
Spurs apparently didn’t want Tomiyasu to play in the Olympics, which is understandable given the start of the Premier League season is just around the corner.
But of course, while he is still a Bologna player Tottenham cannot control his international commitments.
If he is to join, the 22-year-old probably would have missed the start of the campaign anyway because of the Olympics – so let’s just hope he can use that time to recover from his injury.
Get him just the same. If it’s a lengthily injury get him for cheaper. He will get better eventually.
Can we send Aurier or Doherty in the other direction
why not Dier and Danchez
