Toby Alderweireld has described playing for Tottenham as an honour after his exit was confirmed on Tuesday.
The Belgian, who ends a six-year affiliation with the club since signing from Atletico Madrid in 2015, has joined Qatari outfit Al-Duhail.
Alderweireld has been in Far East completing his move in recent days, but still had time to pay tribute to the Tottenham faithful in a short message on Twitter.
He said: “I want to thank for everything in the last six year, it’s been an honour for me to play for Spurs.”

Toby you have been outstanding for Spurs and so unlucky not to be winning a trophy. A role model for all young footballers . Wishing you all the best and hope you can come back to the club and be at the very minimum a defensive coach to the young players – awesome ?
Its been an honour to have toby, jan, moussa dembele and hugo. Are and will be sadly missed. Rolls royce players every one of them.
