Tottenham’s Premier League campaign gets underway against Manchester City on Sunday, and new manager Nuno Espirito Santo has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.

The biggest issue concerns whether Harry Kane will be selected amid ongoing speculation about a move to the champions. We think the England captain will be absent from the starting line-up, but he could be on the bench.

That means Son Heung-min will play through the middle, supported by an attacking midfield trio of Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Dele Alli. New signing Bryan Gil could come on as a substitute.

In midfield, we think Oliver Skipp will partner Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Tanguy Ndombele hasn’t featured in pre-season and is unlikely to play a part, but Giovanio Lo Celso is a useful option for the second half, especially if Spurs need a goal.

As for the defence, Hugo Lloris is likely to be protected by a back four of Japhet Tanganga, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Sergio Reguilon. Cristian Romero isn’t quite fit enough to make his debut yet.

Here’s our predicted XI to face City – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. I think we are bang in trouble with that line up, I do like Tanganga but not sure he’s a right back and starting Dier and Sanchez v Man City is suicidal.

  2. It always takes us to long to buy players with that team there we will be smashed
Dier is awful and sanchez liability tanga is ok but not as a right back thought this area was going to be sorted by start of season
So penny pinching levy get the money get a rb and another cb and a new midfielder and keep harry boy and get another forward aswell and then we might have a decent season

  3. Rubbish team that is old story
    Dier is the worst player
He is not recognised as defender so it is best way to sell him now for the sake if Spurs players

  4. Lloris,doc, Rodon,tang,reg
    Hoj,skipp lo celso
    Son , morua , bergwijn
But I do think kane will start or bergwijn will drop out

  5. Spurs is always talking about buying new player but never do action sometimes atlastminutebefore transfer deadline which is not good idea and affect preparation for new season

  6. Spurs always talking about midfielders and wingers, that defence needs sorting out asap, otherwise this will be another sad season finishing below top 4. Sanchez and Dier can’t be trusted against City. My prediction is City 4 and Spurs 1.What happened with regards to the Japanese defender and why not start Rodon instead.

  7. Same story with Tottenham every year, story after story about this player, that player joining but never eventuates.
Levy will always try for a better deal but it never comes off.
How many players have we missed over the years because he f’*#s around.
If ENiC really wanted a league title, champions league they would be serious but they never are.

  8. For sure ENIC is not interested in league title as their aim is business that is it.
Levy is defenitly wrong man for Spurs
What is new Director of Football from Italy he seems nothing just sit and talk
Waste of money to pay his salary

    • “What is new Director of Football from Italy he seems nothing just sit and talk

He just sits and talks does he? You know this how? You are an absolute moron.

  9. Dier and Sanchez should not play any part.
Play Rodon and A N other – City dont have any big hulking forwards so could even play Hoiberg alongside Rodon, leaving Skippy and Gio ( or Winksy) to do midfield holding roles?

  10. Rodon is being ignored despite being a much better prospect than Dier or Sanchez and of course our Italian Director of football will want more foreign players. Rodon will probably sit on the bench for most of the season and eventually move to some more sensible club who will appreciate him more than Nuno.
