Heung Min Son has emerged as an early doubt for Tottenham’s visit to Crystal Palace on Saturday with a calf problem, according to the Evening Standard.
Son played 90 minutes in South Korea’s goalless draw against Iraq last Thursday, but then missed their 1-0 victory over Lebanon earlier this afternoon following a calf issue sustained in training on Monday.
In a statement, the KFA said: “Heung-min felt uncomfortable in his right calf after training on the 6th [of September], and as a result of the test, he was excluded in order to protect the player.”
Son has made a blistering start to the season, scoring winners in the home victories over Manchester City and then Watford last month.
However, the Standard believe that the Tottenham man could miss the game at Selhurst Park on Saturday lunchtime when Spurs will be hoping to move five points clear at the top of the Premier League.
With Lucas Moura waiting in the wings, Nuno Espirito Santo could cope without the Korean for one week, but with a tricky trip to Wolves in the Carabao Cup plus London derbies with Chelsea and Arsenal later this month, Tottenham needs their top goalscorer fit and firing.
