Tottenham retain an interest in Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger amid uncertainty surrounding the defender’s future at Stamford Bridge, according to 90Min.

Rudiger has just one year left on his Chelsea contract, and 90Min claims there is no sign of club and player coming to an agreement over an extension any time soon.

The report goes on to say that a host of European suitors, including Spurs, are keeping tabs on the Germany international’s situation.

They suggest Tottenham have tried to sign Rudiger in the past and the club retains its long-term interest in poaching the 28-year-old from their London rivals.

Spurs spent big on a centre-back in the summer, bringing in Cristian Romero from Atalanta.

Nuno Espirito Santo could arguably do with another top-class defender to partner Romero, and Rudiger would be a cheap option if he is available on a free transfer next year.

That said, Tottenham have clearly been working to bring the average age of the squad down – Rudiger turns 29 in March, so Spurs might be looking at younger alternatives.
