Lyon are in talks with Tottenham over a loan move for Tanguy Ndombele after missing out on Giovani Lo Celso, according to The Athletic.

Ndombele and Lo Celso joined for huge fees in the summer of 2019 but have both failed to fulfil their potential at Spurs and look set for exits before Monday’s transfer deadline.

However, it seems Lo Celso may have opted to stay put – and as a result Ndombele could seal a departure.

The Athletic claims Lo Celso has rejected a loan move to Lyon, which has provoked the French club to move for their former player Ndombele instead.

It is believed Lyon want Tottenham to cover the majority of Ndombele’s wages, which could obviously put a spanner in the works – but there is said to be confidence a deal will be done.

There is no indication as to whether Spurs will now attempt to shift Lo Celso elsewhere before the window closes.

Arguably, the Londoners should try to keep hold of one of them as there isn’t much creativity in the squad without them.

  1. The last sentence in the story above made me laugh. There isn’t any creativity in the Spurs squad with them! Lo Celso is a fucking useless waste of space

  2. Ndombele had a superstar brain in a hungover 50 year olds body. Lo Celso is another player of huge talent and potential but like lamela, recurrent injuries stop him ever getting a run at mastering his craft.

I must say Im somewhat worried so far that under paratici, we’ve lost lamela, and with ndombele, lo celso and dele being forced out, I dont see the footballing vision yet, or where the completely absent creativity will come from.

If Bentancur is even half decent as a defensive mid then he could be the steel we’re missing. Kulusevski is another thing all together, he is young, he is a baller, but is he ready to oust lucas? No. Is he ready to play in the central 10 role? not likely.

Juventus have been in bad shape last couple of seasons and they look to be clearing their deadwood and replacing them with genuine talent. By throwing them 60m we are basically funding their moves for Zakaria/Vlahovic – both players we should have been after. And that’s what this looks like to me, a move that helps juventus way more than us.

Im a firm believer that big clubs never sell top players for a discount, so it will be interesting to see how these signings pan out.

  3. I guarantee 90% of people commenting on our 2 new players, plus most of the players we have been linked with, have never seen them play other than a 2 minute clip on Youtube….those slagging of Le Celso, Tanguy and Gill saying they were terrible buys were absolutely delighted at the time we signed them. My point being: even if a player is brilliant in one league as we`ve seen, it doesn`t necessarily mean they will adapt to the Prem, fit in or have the right attitude.
We`ve had too may of these (over 50% of transfers in over the last few years have proved unsuccessful) but for now let`s trust the process on these new guys, and hope that Conte wants them because they have the right attitude and fit into the system he wants to pay
