It seems that this site has launched just in time to cover the most concrete piece of transfer tittle tattle, that we’ve been treated to this summer.
The BBC reports that the Sheffield United full back Kyle Naughton is in talks with Tottenham, having looked poised to join Everton.
Hijacking a move for a player that David Moyes is interested in, could be a smart move. The Scot rarely puts a foot wrong in the transfer market, with the signings of Cahill, Fellaini, Lescott and Arteta having proved particularly inspired.
Do we really need another right back though? With Corluka, Hutton and Gunter available, it would appear as if we need Naughton about as much as we needed to sign Chimbonda in the January transfer window.
One can only conclude that if Harry gets his man, he’ll be letting someone else go to create more transfer funds. That could be Hutton, with Naughton playing understudy to Corluka, or perhaps Dawson, with Corluka moving to centre back.
Personally I’d say that despite the Sunderland’s interest in Dawson, it is Hutton that Harry will want to let go. The rumours regarding his off-field antics persist and his form has been patchy since his injury.
The best thing about this proposed transfer though, is that it surely spells the end of Chimbonda’s second spell at the Lane. What’s that coming over the hill Pascal? Why, it looks like your replacement.
