In my opinion, Harry has picked a poor side in both of the last two games. We managed to get away with it against Wolves, whilst we all know what happened against Arsenal.

Though the Carling Cup team was flawed, it’s not going to have a huge impact on this game. Only BAE is likely to play and even he’s an injury doubt.

Cudicini should return in goal. Pletikosa didn’t do a lot wrong despite conceding four goals against Arsenal, but he did flap at a cross that was eerily similar to Gomes’ early days in the Spurs goal.

Corluka is fit again at right back, but Hutton was very good when he came on against Wolves. It depends on whether Harry wants security at the back or an attacking force. It’s my opinion that Corluka deserved to be dropped due to poor form, before picking up an injury, so I’d go with Hutton.

I’d have Bale at left back, as BAE is struggling and Modric looks likely to return to the midfield. In central defence, King is doubtful and we can’t take a risk on him at the moment. Bassong had a decent game on Tuesday and I’d play him alongside Gallas.

In midfield, both Palacios and Sandro had a long, hard game chasing shadows against Arsenal, so I’d leave them out. I’d go with Jenas and Huddlestone, with Modric on the left and Van der Vaart just behind the striker. Lennon hasn’t been in great form, but neither Dos Santos or Bentley covered themselves in glory in midweek and don’t deserve to play.

Pavlyuchenko was another who had a poor game, so it would be Crouch up front for me. While Defoe is out, I’d be playing Crouch away and in Europe, while reserving Pavlyuchenko for home games.

So what would your team be? Here’s mine:

———–Cudicini————

Hutton—Gallas—Bassong—Bale

Lennon-Jenas-Huddlestone-Modric

——–Van der Vaart———–

———–Crouch————-

    • Not his biggest fan, but Wilson is so out of form and it might be too soon for Sandro to play again. Jenas works hard, which is what we need in a midfield full of attacking players.

    Hutton, Gallas, Huddleston, Bale,
    Palacios,
