Spurs seem to be linked with a few ‘utility’ players at the moment and the latest of these is Wes Brown. Being a utility player can often mean that the respective managers haven’t quite figured out where to play them, but with Brown being able to slot in at centre half or right back this may be one of the more sensible transfers for Spurs to seek out.

With news of Ledley King’s latest injury setback and Vedran Corluka still being linked with a move away from the Lane, Brown could provide cover for both, but you really have to question whether he is better than Corluka in either position.

Brown is now 31 and his international career seems to be behind him which takes away the chance of him being injured while playing for England in the same way that Dawson and Defoe were. With all that considered, this may be one of the more likely calls this month.

  1. Absolutely not. Corluka has one of the best footballing brains at spurs. He links up fantastically with Lennon. He brings out the best in him, far better than that dope Hutton. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

  2. Give me a break. Wes Brown does not need to be away on international duty in order to get injured…he gets injured in every other circumstance. The is what I REALLY call cover for Ledley! When King is actually fit, Brown could cover Ledley’s place on the treatment table.

  3. Not a chance, Charlie should be our 1st choice RB and Hutton backup! I hope Charlie starts on Sunday much better than Hutton imo.

  4. We cant play Hutton and Ekottohe against Utd or we will get beat Harry needs to tighten up at the back an hit them on the break like they will do. Brown his injury prone and is a no go for me. This should be our team Gomes just the new lad Dawson Bassong Gallas Lennon Kaboul Modric Bale Van Defoe Subs Cud Crouch Townsend Jenas Kranjcar Corluka Hutton
