Steven Pienaar’s Twitter page may have beaten everyone else to it but it has now been announced that the midfielder has joined Spurs on a four and a half year contract.

For anyone who didn’t catch the ‘Tweet’ Pienaar stated: “To end speculation I am going to Spurs. I’ve had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart.”

The club have confirmed that a deal has been reached and the fee is believed to be £2.5m. A work permit is required but it may come through in time for him to be in the squad for Newcastle on Saturday.

Pienaar’s arrival was met with mixed feelings by Spurs fans as it would appear that the one area we don’t need players for is in midfield. Everton fans however rate him highly and there is no doubting the player’s ability so we welcome Steven Pienaar and wish him every success in a Lilywhite shirt.

  1. pienaar, modric, bale, lennon, thudd, van der vaart top six
    jenas,pala,kranks,towsend,gio,bentleyo hara reserves
we now have a midfield as good as any in england with the emergence of modric to world class up d yids till i die

  2. Watch Bale move to LB coming soon as a test to different formations for the future, me thinks Harry is aiming for the best players for a 4-2-3-1 formation as choice one then others as options for changes in formation….so 2 players for every position to provide the variety

  3. I feel this is a good move, this will ensure that none of the midfielders will become complacent!!! Such as Jenas, Wilson, Lennon etc….

  4. I suppose its always good to have decent cover in all areas especially as we are still going for 3 trophies so will need to rotate the squad a bit more. Welcome to Spurs Stevie P.

  5. I like the idea of having two men for each position. So Ok I am looking for two big boys for each position, tell me what would you’re favoured position be and what skills would you bring to the table? HHXX
