Gareth Bale put pen to paper on his new contract at the weekend and stated that he believes he can win the title with Spurs. Bale is widely tipped to pick up a host of player awards at the end of the season despite injury interrupting his progress since the start of the year.
The club website quotes Gareth as saying: “I definitely believe we can challenge for a title very soon. That is why I have signed. Every year as a minimum we are aiming to qualify for the Champions League so we are definitely going in the right direction.
“We have proven in the Champions League this season that we can compete with the best and we are in the last eight now and there is no reason we can’t go further this season and in years to come.”
The player is edging back to full fitness and we all hope he can have a positive impact on our run in. The new deal may not stop other clubs being linked of course but most Spurs fans will hope that it signals intent on Bale’s part to stay at the Lane for many years to come.
