William Gallas spoke up for the rest of the Spurs team after defeat in Madrid and insisted that they must quickly turn their attention back to the Premiership and our crucial game with Stoke on Saturday.

“It was a bad night but we have to be strong in our heads,” said William on the club website. “We have to play against Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday and that game is very important.

“We have to try to win that game and try to qualify for the Champions League again next season. We have to try to win every game.”

Meanwhile Gallas has been tipped for a return to the French squad after impressing at Spurs. He has yet to feature under new coach Laurent Blanc but for now, he insists his focus is solely on Tottenham.

“I’m not even thinking about the French team,” he told L’Equipe.

“To me what’s important is doing my job with my club That is the most important thing. The French team comes after.”

Let’s hope William’s words filter through to the rest of the team and we can put our recent bad run behind us on Saturday.
