As widely expected by many, Gareth Bale picked up the PFA player of the year award last night and in so doing, became the fourth Spurs player to collect the trophy after Pat Jennings, Clive Allen and David Ginola.

Speaking at the event Gareth said: ”It is an honour really when you look at the names that have won it before and it just makes you go ‘wow’ really.

”There haven’t been too many Welshman to have won the trophy but it is great and it is great for me personally.

”And it is not just for me, it is for all my team-mates that have helped me through the season and it is kind of for everyone really.”

After a blistering start to the season, Gareth struggled with injuries for a period of time, but looked to be back to his best during our last game against Stoke. Spurs fans everywhere will be delighted for him and hope to see more of his best during the run in to the end of 2010-11.
