The newspapers were always going to produce stories linking Dimitar Berbatov with a move back to Spurs after the Bulgarian was left out of Manchester United’s squad on Saturday for the Champions League final with Barcelona.

One can only imagine his reaction at the news that he wasn’t even worthy of a place on the bench, but it’s possible that the player could see it as a final insult, after a period out of the team cost him a chance of winning the Golden Boot outright.

Berbatov left us for a fee in the region of £30m and while he is out of contract next season, £10m could be enough to seal his return. For a player who has just finished as the joint leading goalscorer in the Premiership, there are surprisingly few clubs linked with him – Newcastle is about the only other at present.

Last week Berbatov pledged his future to Old Trafford but this latest snub could have changed all that and a swift bid from Tottenham could take advantage of his undoubtedly sour demeanour this week.

  1. This is hilarious! You seriously think Breba’s ego would allow him to go from Man U to Newcastle?

Have we suddenly developed shoort memories??? (That said, I’d have him back at Spurs in a heartbeat)

    • The same newcastle who used to give
      You our cast offs .
The same newcastle who v been in the champions league
      3 times more than spurs.
We missed out to psv then it crumbled
Expect the same ,arry failed you.

  2. PS. Sorry for the typos
pps. I don’t mean “you” personally Mr Harris, I mean the bigger “you” – ie the people inventing this shite.

  3. I have heard many worrying sources saying 35 million plus a player has been lined up for a while bearing in mind spurs wouldnt qualify for the champions league.

I have a source close in at the lane that reckons its done, and this was a month ago since then I have seen many identical sources on sites and forums…….Berba is off now it seems.

Personally 35 million and Berba would be a good deal as we need a striker more than a midfielder, with Hudd n Sandro in there

But what worries me is that with the 35 million Redknapp gets he will blow it on Neville for 1 mill, Green fo 5 mill, Parker 15 mill, Roger Johnsen 6mill, Which is why I would say stick there offer and hope that we get at least 1 striker who isnt a premiership reject.
