The transfer rumours don’t stop when the window closes – they merely slow down. This morning there have been a number of stories appearing, but the most interesting of these concerns Valencia midfielder Ever Banega.

As the Modric rumours continue, so will the suggestions of possible replacements, but Banega looks to be one of the better players to be linked with a move to Spurs.

At 23, he started his career with Boca Juniors before moving to Spain in 2008 and after signing with Valencia initially, Banega impressed during a loan spell with Athletico Madrid. He has 11 caps for Argentina although these have been sporadic since his debut in 2008.

According to Spanish publication Cadena Ser, Spurs have been in touch with the Spaniards over a loan move in January with a view to tying up a permanent deal at the end of the English season.

Rumours will continue and many are worth ignoring, but Ever Banega looks to be a decent prospect if he were to cross to North London in January.

  1. I remember Banega back before his Valencia days, he was immense on football manager but enjoyed a booking a game which was frsutrating.

Good signing, if it comes to fruition back physically, he may not be up the PL standards

  2. What about Ivan Rakitic? He’s only 23, looked great for Schalke (and I assume from Sevilla, but I haven’t been following), can play anywhere in midfield and would probably come VERY cheap (sold to Sevilla for 1.5m or something ridiculous).
