There were some good performances from Spurs players on international duty right across the globe this weekend and in particular, goals from Gareth Bale and Vedran Corluka stood out.

Charlie has made a quick return from injury and will provide much needed defensive cover at the Lane and he underlined his versatility by slotting in at left back before heading home his country’s third goal in their 3-0 win over Turkey.

However it was Scott Parker who drew the most praise from all corners after his trademark man of the match display in England’s 1-0 victory over World Champions Spain. The news feeds are full of comments from ex-professionals and even ex-Gooner Ray Parlour is saying nice things this morning.

It was England boss Fabio Capello who summed up the general reaction to Parker’s performance,

“Scott Parker had an incredible performance,” said Capello. “He is improving every game. He is an important player.

“He can receive the ball from the back four no problem – a really good player.”

Aside from VDV, every Spurs player seems to have come through the international weekend unscathed but with one match to go, there will be fingers crossed that no more injury problems are sustained.
