Reports have been coming through today that a permanent deal for Giovani dos Santos could be tied up before the weekend. There has been much speculation about Gio’s future since the transfer window opened and according to Villareal’s vice-president Jose Manuel Llaneza, Gio’s White Hart Lane misery could soon be at and end.

“The negotiations are well on the way and it seems like the player wants to come to Villarreal,” said Llaneza.

“The deal is not finalised, but we expect a solution by the weekend. Villarreal needs more attacking players.”

Without a loan deal, Dos Santos has been seen in a Lilywhite shirt a little more this season but his performances have done little to change the manager’s mind, amidst suggestions that he needed to get fitter and work harder in training.

Gio could conceivably have played in Friday’s FA Cup tie against Watford but by the time the game kicks off, the talented but frustrating Mexican may well have left the Lane for good.

  1. Could have been a superstar, but just hasn’t done it. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him blossom into a top player back in Spain.

    Shame.

  2. Do they want Niko and Pav then if they need attacking players. Not that they are but we could pretend and put a video on u-tube to impress them.If he had done the work he might still be here.Still think he will make a better playmaker than a striker or winger.Has good skill and passing and plenty of energy but then heck must be all the vodka and red bull he used during training nights sorry days.Sell a couple more and add Damaio. Can’t see how we can go wrong with him.Getting Vertonghen would also be a plus.Let Sir Ledley go to training staff and Gallas just go.Sell Bassong and as he is getting on a bit Dawson and replace with the above and Caulker.
