While Scott Parker was our lone representative in full England colours last night, attention was on the youngsters including Harry Kane and Steven Caulker who both made scoring contributions at their respective levels.

Earlier in the week, Kane was on target in England under 19’s 2-1 win over the Czech Republic and he was delighted to have scored at Brisbane Road – a ground on which he featured whilst on loan at Orient last season.

“It’s always great to score a goal but to get one back here was special,” he told Orient’s website.

“I didn’t get to score at that end when I was here on loan so it’s nice to get one now.”

Meanwhile, the under 21’s played Belgium last night and Steven Caulker claimed his fourth cap in a side that also included Danny Rose. It was Caulker however who advanced his growing reputation with a 36th minute goal in a 4-0 victory.

“It was my first goal for England so I’m really delighted,” Caulker said after the game.” It’s been coming over the last couple of weeks in the Premier League, hitting the post a few times, so it was more than due.

“You’ve got to be in the right place at the right time sometimes and today was my day.”

It’s still early days for both players but goals at any international level might suggest that their careers are heading in the right direction.
