It looks increasingly likely that Tottenham’s reserve keeper Heurelho Gomes has played his last game for the club as the club announced that he has undergone surgery after a scan showed a medial tear.

According to the official website,

‘Following consultation with a specialist, it is expected that the Brazil goalkeeper will return to training in four weeks.’

Mention of Gomes’ name on here always attracts praise and criticism in equal measures and while there will still be a few weeks left in the season when he returns, the prospect of him appearing between the posts at White Hart Lane again is remote.

So is this the end for the likeable but erratic Brazilian or is there still a way back?

  1. Still love this guy. Just if we could merge him with Friedel.

Wish a season in the background, out of the public eye, learning from the experience and calm head that Friedel has.

If Gomes added calmness to his game, he would be the best around. He’s not old for a keeper, so hopefully his best is still to come. Unfortunately it wont be with us.
