If reports are to be believed, Tottenham outcast Giovani dos Santos was set for a summer transfer to Villarreal which has been scuppered due to the Spanish side’s shock relegation. Gio has barely been a fringe player this season and even without this deal, surely his White Hart Lane agony must be coming to an end?
“We were very advanced in negotiations with Villarreal so that Giovani could join them next season, but with their relegation everything has been halted,” said the Mexican’s agent Vicente Montes.
Montes went on to state that the player is adamant about playing in Spain next season.
“Gio’s idea is to play in Spain,” he added. “He wants to play there because he’s done well, he made progress and he wants to restart his career in that league.”
But with Villarreal out of the picture, who will step in for Gio?
