One of the players who risks missing out after Harry Redknapp’s departure is centre half Ryan Nelsen. While the New Zealand international was only signed on a six month contract in January, there were reports that Harry was happy to have him around the place to add depth to the squad and experience in training.

A fresh manager with no experience of the player may be unlikely to sign an ageing, injury prone defender and that has prompted stories linking Nelsen with a move to Queens Park Rangers. Some reports are suggesting the deal is so advanced that the player is undergoing a medical at Loftus Road today.

There is, of course, the usual connection with a former manager that gives some rumour mills the ammunition to create a story out of nothing. Mark Hughes brought Nelsen to Blackburn but does that necessarily mean he’ll work with him again?

Whatever happens, it does look increasingly like Ryan Nelsen has played his last game for Spurs.
