Spurs face a really tough trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United this weekend, and are a top priced 6.5 with
Betfred to upset the odds and come away with all three points.
The stats are certainly not good as far Andre Villas-Boas side are concerned.
United have won 17 and lost none of their last 22 Premier League games against Tottenham, and the Lilywhites have managed to score eight goals in 20 Premier League visits to Old Trafford.
The last player to score a winning goal for Spurs in Manchester was actually Gary Lineker in December 1989, but there are reasons to believe that Spurs are capable of coming away with a point at least,
United may be unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions coming into this, but they have not been at their best and have been letting in goals.
Spurs are finally beginning to find their stride after a slow start to the season, and I think that they are capable of causing the United back-line plenty of problems.
It has looked far from solid, and for that reason Spurs look worth a wager at 4.5 with
sportingbet in the draw/no bet market.
Jermain Defoe has scored 199 goals in his senior career and has fired in more shots on target than any other player in the Premier League this season (9).
He is a top priced 10 with
Stan James to open the scoring, but makes more appeal from a punting perspective at 4.33 with
Betfred to score anytime.
The final bet that appeals is over 2.5 goals at 1.67 with
Ladbrokes given that both sides like to play attacking free-flowing football.
There is always a First time. Never say never.
Spurs have ball-winners and therefore match-winners in Vertonghen ( tasted with Ajax last season ), Ball winners in Dembele, DAWS ( play him ), Sandro ( to hassle and boss the midfield ), potential match winners in Bale, Lennon, Dembele ( to score important goals ).
Snuff out the oposition attack with strong defenders like Vertonghen, DAWS/Caulker, Walker. ( Gallas as substitute). Kaboul is missed.
Nothing is impossible. Come on ye Spurs.
Has anyone noticed why MU has been successful. One reason is Fergie has been able to buy consistently, players who are ball winners ( in all positions ). look at defence, Rio, Vidic, ( plus the guy at right back.. forget his name).
Midfield of Scholes, Cleverly, Keane ( former).
Forwards/strikers like Rooney, Nani, Valencia, and now RVP.
You can see, all these names are ball winners and match winners.
Good news is that SPURS too have ball-winners and potential match-winners in Vertonghen, DAWS, Caulker, Walker ( Defence ), Sandro, Dembele ( Midfield ), Lennon, Bale ( Wings, one of the best in the country ).
One on one, these Spurs names are ball winners and potential match winners in the country/EPL.
Vertonghen says ” YOU CAN SPURS ”, give your best.
You need to sign the referees and officials in order to win against MU. I think the best signing so far done by MU is the officials.
