There’s been plenty of focus on injuries at Spurs in recent weeks and ahead of tonight’s Europa League game, there are many questions about the potential make up of our team. Meanwhile, hosts Lazio have suffered an injury problem of their own as veteran striker Miroslav Klose misses the game but how much will the German’s absence affect the home side?

Looking at bare stats it would seem that this is a major blow for Lazio. Klose has scored seven times in twelve games and is by far the team’s leading scorer in Serie A. After Klose, the main scoring threats come from midfield where Brazilian Hernanes and Stefano Mauri have matched the striker’s total of seven goals between them.

As an irrelevant side issue, all three of those Lazio players have been linked with Spurs in the past but what will the absence of their main striking threat achieve? It could simply lead to the hosts parking the bus in order to secure a 0-0 draw which will be more useful to them than it will to us.
