After spending an Autumn choosing between Brad Friedel and Hugo Lloris, Spurs seem to have settled on a definitive number one with Hugo taking the gloves in the Premier League, and Brad taking over in Europe.

That leaves two more forgotten men at the club but could January finally see the departures of Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes? The papers today suggest that Carlo could be the first to leave with LA Galaxy looking for a keeper ahead of the new MLS season.

Admittedly the story seems to originate from the Daily Mail – which also states that Friedel is set to join Blackburn next month after that report was widely denied. However, Carlo could well be allowed to leave on a free and it’s the type of rumour that just might make sense.

That leaves Heurelho who is proving difficult to shift due to wages and a proposed transfer fee of £3.5m. The issue here is that Gomes is only 31 and as a keeper, he is supposedly coming into his prime.

A proposed deal to Palmeiras has reportedly fallen through but the markets open again soon for an experienced man who is surplus to requirements at the Lane. Will anything happen? Possibly, but the smart money might just be on a couple of unsatisfactory loan deals.
