Harry setting his sights on a more acceptable target

by Matthew Harris on January 9, 2013

It must have been a happy moment for former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp when he was re-united with Ryan Nelsen at QPR at the end of last year. However, as Harry begins his tenure at Loftus Road, the New Zealand centre half is off to the MLS and that move will leave an experienced gap in the heart of the QPR defence.

It’s easy to link Redknapp to former players – it happened enough times with ex West Ham and Portsmouth men when he was at White Hart Lane – but today’s suggested target may seem to be a perfect fit. William Gallas is the name mentioned – a man who Harry took a punt on nearly three years ago, but will AVB be prepared to let the Frenchman go?

William has already made more appearances this season than he did in the whole of an admittedly injury hit 2011-12 and Villas-Boas seems to like having the player’s experience around the squad and in the starting XI.

Gallas to QPR may be more preferable than Dawson going the same way but the reality is that neither deal seems particularly likely at this stage.
