There are growing reports today that Spurs will return in the summer to make another attempt to secure the signature of Porto’s Joao Moutinho. Tottenham made a well documented approach to bring the Portuguese international to White Hart Lane in August before time ran out on the deadline day deal.
But the story has emerged again and there could be a very good explanation as to why Moutinho is back in the spotlight. All the reasons for the transfer are being mentioned again – AVB worked with him at Porto and knows that the 26 year old would bring undoubted quality into the club.
However, why did Spurs not go back to Porto in January if they came so close to signing him in the summer?
It could be that there is genuine truth behind the story or alternatively, Moutinho’s goal for Porto in last night’s Champions League has reminded the media of his existence and led to a rehash of an old rumour.
