AVB: Bring on Inter

Spurs left it late once again but Moussa Dembele’s last minute goal earned us a place in the last 16 of the Europa League and next up is Inter Milan. Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas praised his players and said that the result was no more than they deserved.

“I think it’s fully deserved for what we did over the two legs,” said AVB on the club’s official website. “The team did extremely well in the second half to come back into the game and overall, I think we deserved to go through.

With Lyon despatched, attention now turns to Inter Milan and naturally, there are memories of our classic encounters in the Champions League.

“We had two magnificent games against Inter and we just want to recreate special night that everyone remembers at the club,” Andre added.

“Going through against Inter Milan and Lyon puts you in a good place to win the competition.”

Late goals have been a feature of Tottenham’s play in recent weeks but could Moussa’s long range effort be the most important of all? One thing is certain – this current Tottenham team have made the Europa League seem far more special than it did during the last campaign.

  1. Agree – this years Europa League has brought back fond memories of those great eufa cup nights of the past – all european games have a special feel about them regardless of whether its CL or EL. There’s some very good sides in the EL and I think it was wrong to treat it like some mickey mouse cup last term. Pleased avb has taken it seriously and also pleased that this side is showing the sort of grit and determination to fight until the dying seconds unlike spurs sides of the past. That’s 3 recent goals in the 90th and 93rd minutes (2). Feels good !
