Reports of a possible move for Everton’s Leon Osman have been lost in the aftermath of last night’s Europa League defeat but it’s worth taking a look on what must be an unlikely transfer. The story first appeared in Metro and it suggests that Osman has broken off contract talks with the Merseyside club and may be looking at a move in the summer.
The report goes on to claim that Andre Villas-Boas will be desperate to sign another central midfielder having supposedly missed out on Joao Moutinho and that Spurs are in pole position for the player.
Osman is 31 and has been at Goodison Park for the whole of his professional career and is obviously a sound player in midfield but is this really likely? The first reaction of many fans was to compare this to the rumours surrounding Phil Neville a couple of years ago and it seems more likely that this story will end up with the same conclusion.
Bullshit
Not sure what he would offer above our current midfield options…
Spurs have already too many average players on the books like Livermore, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Rose, Naughton. Then they have a disastrous buy in Adebayor and the overrated Dembele. Surely they don’t want to add to this mediocracy.
