When the January transfer window closed a few months ago, Tottenham Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas intimated that the club’s pursuit of Leandro Damiao was finished but as the season in England comes to an end, the Brazilian’s name is appearing in the gossip columns once again.

Last month it was suggested that Internacional had lined up Wagner Love as a possible replacement for the striker and now, with one month to go before the window re-opens, Inter’s club President Giovanni Luigi left more than a hint that the player is on his way to the Premier League.

“If a club want a player, they must talk to the president of the club at which that particular player plays, and not just deal with the agent – that is not correct behaviour,” Luigi said.

“Recently we talked with Tottenham, Leandro is very likely to play games in England in the coming year. On the other hand, we can exclude Napoli.”

The link with Damiao has gone on for some time now but could it finally be coming to a head and end with a move to White Hart Lane or will it continue to drag and prove fruitless as so many links have in the past?

  1. Sun Headline – Summer 2055 – Tottenham Hospur are chasing Damiao even though the player has recently obtained his free bus pass. A club insider said “we have had a keen interest in the player for a while now and hope we can get the deal done”.

I’m so bored of this now, i just wish the rags would just stop making this sh1t up, but it’s to easy for them so i expect we can see this for another few years yet!

  2. If we do have the opportunity to sign Leandro Damiao I don’t think we should because for so many seasons when he was playing brilliantly and scoring lots of goals his club didn’t want to sell him, but now that he has lost form and not scoring many goals they seem to be willing to let him sign for us .

  3. Bored with this now – unless we go out and sign him on a pre-contract like Bayern have done with Gotze, then we should forget all about this one. I just hope we go out and get a couple of strikers in early and then get shot of Adebayor, but it would be just like Levy to want a buyer lined up for him first, meaning the usual deadline day farce!! Do the board not take any notice of Utd’s transfer dealings? They get their major signings done early, bed them in for pre-season and then get the full benefit of them once the season starts. We SHOULD have identified and lined up deals already, allowing for CL or not. If we sneak top 4, then there’s no reason why we can’t push for Moutinho again or Ericksen in midfield, Capel or Salah for wing cover and at least one of Soldado/Michu/Higuain up front. Michu would certainly be worth going for, given his proven Prem experience…

  4. Dream on people. I can’t see us signing the Brazilian number 9. He can get double the wages in city or Chelsea.
    Enough with this shit.

  7. his form has been poor this season ,maybe oscar leaving has had an effect,,,has not scored in last five games,,has scored 7 goals this season,,and got sent in his last game.
Sounds like mr luigi is trying to force damiao onto to us now.
imo we should get soldado or negredo or even osvaldo signed first and then get a deal for damaio because it will take more time for him to settle than the more experienced strikers and we need a 20 goals a season striker asap.
