While rumours of a move for David Villa have persisted throughout the day, Spurs have also been linked with Croatian Under 21 international and RNK Split striker Ante Rebic. The latter isn’t exactly a household name but as a potential £6m purchase, could Rebic fit the bill as a fringe striker at White Hart Lane?

Rebic is just 19 but this has been something for a breakthrough campaign in his homeland where he has scored 10 goals in 27 games over the course of a campaign. It’s not necessarily a record to get too excited about but it’s apparently been widely accepted that he is a huge prospect.

Rebic is a versatile player too and is happy across the front line and can also play behind the main striker in that much-missed VDV role.

Most of the reports linking the player go on to claim that Spurs are looking for at least one more additional striker so Rebic would be first reserve at best. As a fourth striker this looks to have a lot going for it but is the player any more of a first team prospect for next season than say – Souleymane Coulibaly?

  1. Don’t know much about him to be honest, but 10 goals is less than Dempsey so doesn’t mean much.
Personally I think Villa could be worth a punt; people say it’s not levy’s style to get this sort of player, but remember VdV and Gallas? Could be the answer for next season and perhaps the one after too, don’t forget golden oldies have done the business for us before – Klinsman anyone!
Reckon sponsors would love to see Villa in lilywhite too…….
