Tottenham may ultimately lose out on the capture of established international Leandro Damiao but the club are being heavily linked today with an approach for an up and coming Brazilian by the name of Neilton.

The 19 year old has made just six appearances for the first team at Santos but has already scored three goals at senior level and his development through the youth set up has predictably led to comparisons with his compatriot Neymar.

The report – which admittedly seems to have appeared in the Metro – claims that scouts have been watching the player for some time and that Spurs are now prepared to submit a bid in the region of £7m.

Neilton looks an immense prospect but at 19, is he the right man to fill a striker berth at White Hart Lane?

  1. As a supporter of Santos in Brazil, I can assure that Neilton is a great prospect and has an enormous potential (although he is a very different player than Neymar), but he is 19 and has just begun his career in the senior team (until March 2013 he was playing in the sub-20 team)… it is much to soon for anyone to even consider making a bid for him.
