While Spurs continue to hunt down Roberto Soldado, the media are still suggesting that the club will go in for Brazilian Neilton as a back up striker for whoever arrives at White Hart Lane ahead of the new season.

We looked at the 19 year old last week – a player who has predictably been called the new Neymar but while the speculation continues, Neilton himself says he knows nothing of any potential deal.

“Nothing has come in. I saw the news and I have a contract with Santos until next year,” Neilton said.

Meanwhile, Santos’ vice-president Odilio Rodrigues confirmed that the club are looking at a new contract which will extend the player’s current deal which currently runs out in 2014.

“There are already talks to renew his contract,” added Rodrigues.

“They have started and we have scheduled a meeting already.

“We intend to extend his contract, we will talk with his agent and see if we can find something that is good for him and for Santos.”

With three goals in six full games for Santos, Neilton looked a good shout as third or fourth striker at the Lane but comments coming out of his current club suggest that this might be the last we’ll hear of this for the time being at least.
