Kyle Walker has been in the headlines for much of this week and while his behaviour off the pitch has been well documented, Tottenham fans will be more concerned about his performances on the turf as the club heads into a crucial period.

With Adam Smith out on loan, there is no great challenge to Walker on the right side of defence although Kyle Naughton has been used on occasions while Younes Kaboul can switch from the centre if necessary.

However, if reports are to be believed then it may not be long before Walker has a real battle to hold on to his place as Spurs find themselves linked with Sochaux right back Sebastien Corchia. It’s claimed that Andre Villas-Boas has been interested in the player for some time and the rumours have intensified after Corchia himself suggested that a January move may just be on the cards.

‘I can leave Sochaux in January – the club have spoken with interested clubs,’ said the 22 year old.

‘I prefer to focus on the present at the moment, but leaving in January is a possibility.’

Corchia is a right back, first and foremost but he can play on the left or on the wing. At a reported fee of £5m he may also be a bargain but is he needed at the Lane to offer more competition in his favoured position?

  1. Yes he is!!! – What is wrong with Walker????
He’s constantly switching off positionally, either resulting directly in goals or a shed load of free kicks that lead to pressure/goals!!!!

Im fed up with it,. I’m well aware this may sound a tad knee-jerk as well as just painful to remmber, but imagine if he had been rested/received a strong talking to before the fulham and liverpool games last year?? – We would be in the CL instead of feeling sh*t all summer 🙁

Also, I think it’s time AVB dispensed with Dawson. Yeah yeah, bring on the abuse (Hes MR Spurs!! and all that BS).. We need to start playing Kaboul and Verts!!! – I hope Chiriches work permit comes thru soon too!!! COYS!!

    • Agree 100% also Walker is thick as a plank he has not learned from the same mistakes he made last season, he uses his speed to get out of trouble but is always pulling at or tripping players when out of position. Dawson will give you 100% effort but that is not enough, he’s to slow and not comfortable on the ball as that run out of defence against the gooners showed, he looked liked Bambi on Ice as he ran out and fell over. Sooner we get some compition for Walker the better and I think that Dawson will soon be the fourth centrehalf soon as Kaboul is fully fit and Chiriches gets his work permit sorted. COYS

      • Yes he’s made a few mistakes on and off the field but he’s 22/23 years old. Competition will be great for him but lets allow him to develop as a player without getting on his back all the time and, seemingly, in some sections, making him the scapegoat.
        He will be class
