After signing for Spurs ahead of transfer deadline day and making his debut as sub at The Emirates just two days’ later, it’s been a rushed beginning to Erik Lamela’s Tottenham career and the former Roma man should finally get his first start in a Spurs shirt – either at Tromso on Thursday evening or against Cardiff in Sunday’s Premiership clash.

At the end of last week’s home game with Norwich, most of us were raving about the contribution of Christian Eriksen but Andre Villas-Boas’ comments claim that Lamela could have an equally impressive impact at White Hart Lane.

“His qualities are immense, they are not in doubt, but we just didn’t have enough time with due to his late arrival in the transfer window and the international game he played,” AVB said.

“He has played in different positions up front from a young age. When he left River Plate, first he played behind the striker, then on the left, then as a right winger. The experience he has in three positions means he is creative in all three positions.”

Erik really blossomed during his time at Roma and after scoring 21 goals and making 12 assists in two seasons while playing across the top of the pitch, he could be the most exciting prospect, along with Eriksen to arrive at the Lane for some time. Will he be unleashed against Tromso this evening?
